Raising money for Keep Charlotte Beautiful so it can keep up with the city’s growth

Who we are

Why we do it

A group of volunteers formed Friends of Keep Charlotte Beautiful as a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation in 2024 to raise funds for programs administered by the City of Charlotte’s Keep Charlotte Beautiful (KCB) program. Funds we raise are used to sustain and expand beatification programs that engage hundreds of volunteers every year to remove litter from city streets, plant and maintain pollinator-friendly gardens and otherwise promote the cleanliness and beautification of the City of Charlotte.

We believe that with private donations, KCB can improve the quality of life for more people in Charlotte by its programming, including:

  • Adopt-a-Street/Adopt a Bus Stop: More than 450 groups donate more than 11,000 hours annually collecting more than 5,000 bags of litter from Charlotte neighborhoods through this program.

  • Community Grants: Each fall KCB awards up to $8,000 to neighborhoods, schools and/or non-profit organizations for community beatification projects.

  • Bee City: KCB and its volunteers are working with Lowe’s and the City of Charlotte’s Landscape Division to plant and maintain pollinator-friendly garden across the city.

We believe that by providing more citizens the opportunity to participate in KCB programs, we will enhance civic bonds, pride and solidarity that are a key component of quality of life.
